Construction Accident Causes Century City Parking Structure To Partially Collapse
The building collapse attorneys of our law firm have recently learned that according to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the Century City parking structure partially collapsed Friday (July 25) due to a construction accident.
CBS Los Angeles reports:
The accident took place just after 7:30 a.m. at 10100 West Galaxy Way near Hillcrest Country Club, authorities said.
Who Was Responsible For The Accident?
Initially, crews thought a large planter fell from a crane during construction causing the collapse, but upon further investigation, officials determined neither were involved.
“As part of a landscaping project, construction crews were using bobcats to handle lava rock and dirt. The heavy weight of the material being stored was too much for the structural integrity of the parking garage, contributing to the collapse.,” spokesman Eric French said.
Two apartment buildings were evacuated.
The LAFD’s Search and Rescue team were dispatched as a precaution, but no injuries or victims were reported.
